Success at Baxter

Baxter Healthcare Limited believes that by making a success of it's people, they will in turn make a success of the organisation. The stories below are typical of the type of successful people that fill Baxter Healthcare Limited in the UK.

Brent - Business Support Team Manager

Before joining Baxter, I held various positions within Retail and Customer Service.  I was considering a job change, and at the time, a friend of mine told me about a position where she worked.  The industry sector appealed to me, since it was so diverse from my previous experience.  I applied for the job in 2002, and within a couple of weeks, I started working as a Customer Service Coordinator within the Medication Delivery Customer Service team.

Although I had no experience within the medical sector, the structured training provided allowed me to develop the skills I needed to deal with the varied queries from both internal and external customers.  I was soon seeking extra challenges and responsibilities in my role, and these were both supported and encouraged by my line manager.

In 2004, I was recognised by the Medication Delivery business and was given an award for significant contribution to the business.

In June 2006, I was promoted to team leader. Customer Service then faced a restructure in September 2006, which created a separate Business Support team for Customer Services and Sales and Marketing.  In November 2006, I applied for the position of Team Manager of this team and was successful.

To top off 2006, I was again awarded the Significant Contribution Award from the Medication Delivery Business.  I also received a Recognition Award from Baxter for my work.

I feel that with the encouragement and support I have from my colleagues and managers at Baxter, allows me to develop and advance within the company.

Catherine - Senior Product Manager

I started working for Baxter in 1994 as a Customer Service Coordinator for what is now the BioScience division.  In 1997, I became the Customer Service Team Leader.  During this period I was given the opportunity to develop my leadership skills and work closely with sales and marketing on a number of projects.

In 2000, I was given the opportunity to move out of customer service and into a sales support role within the Fenwal Divison.  Baxter helped me to develop my sales and marketing knowledge through various training courses, including the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Certificate in Marketing.  In 2002, following my completion of the course, I became a product manager for a new automated blood collection device.

Baxter continued to support my development, and in 2005 I obtained the CIM Diploma in Marketing.  During 2005 I was also promoted to my present position of Senior Product Manager.

Baxter has continued to support my career development path, and in 2006 I moved from the Fenwal division into the Renal division.

Baxter has always demonstrated its commitment to development and has enabled me to pursue my career path in a structured supported framework.
