Our Operations and Products

  • The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) organisation manages and coordinates global programs and activities, including those to reduce Baxter’s environmental impact and to advance product stewardship at Baxter. We have tough environmental priorities and goals concerning reducing our carbon footprint, reducing natural resource use and creating a greener supply chain

    Environment
Our UK Operations constantly strive to reduce the energy, water and raw materials used to create our products. Our Thetford Manufacturing and Northampton Warehouse and Distribution sites are both certified to the ISO 14001 standard for Environmental Management.   ISO 14001 is an international standard whereby a company can have its environmental work certified by independent experts.

    Producer Responsibility
At Baxter we are not only interested in reducing the environmental impact of our operations. We also strive to produce greener products, and manage the environmental impacts of these products throughout their life cycle. Carbon Reduction
We seek to understand and reduce the carbon footprint of our products where possible. Baxter has assessed the carbon footprint of its Viaflo and Flexbumin products. In 2009, Flexbumin received the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Reduction Label for the product's achievements in carbon reduction. We also seek to reduce the carbon footprint of our deliveries from our Warehouse and Distribution site to our customers, and have made substantial reductions since 2008. We also go a step further and offset our Baxter fleet deliveries to UK customers, making them Carbon Neutral.

    Electrical Product Takeback
To enable the recycling of electrical products at end of life in the UK, we are members of a compliance scheme, and are registered as a WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Producer.
